On Saturday morning, just after 11:00 AM, Troopers from the Hagerstown Barrack responded along with Washington County Emergency personnel for a reported serious motor vehicle collision at Westbound I70 @ the 32 mile marker. The investigation revealed the following information.
A 2009 Yamaha motorcycle was being operated by Alexander E. Cosner (21 yoa) of Hagerstown, Maryland, was traveling westbound on I-70 just west of the ramp from Rt 40 prior to Beaver Creek Road. Cosner accelerated and attempted to drive between two vehicles, which were traveling in the left and right lane. He drove up the centerline between the vehicles and as he cleared the center of those vehicles, he swerved to the right striking the center rear of a 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan, which was being operated by Valerie A. Lookingbill (44yoa) of Middletown, Maryland.
When Cosner struck the rear of the van, he was fully ejected off the motorcycle and landed in the roadway then subsequently slid into the guardrail. Emergency crews quickly arrived on the scene and transported Cosner to Meritus Medical Center for treatment. Lookingbill was not injured from the collision.
Both lanes of westbound I-70 were closed for just over two hours for the investigation. All lanes are now open and the investigation is continuing.

On 07/23/2017 at 1751 hours, Deputies was dispatched to the area of Uhl Highway and Oldtown Road in reference to a motorcycle accident with injuries. Allegany County 911 reported a single motorcycle accident with the operator laying in the roadway. |

Upon arrival Deputies located the accident at the intersection of Uhl Highway and Ruppenkamp Road. The operator of the 2010 Harley Davidson motorcycle was identified as Brian Geatz Iames 36 yrs old., Cresaptown Maryland . Iames had unknown injuries was being evaluated by EMS. While speaking with Iames, he advised that he was traveling north on Uhl Highway and when he crested the hill near Ruppenkamp Road he failed to negotiate the slight left curve and drove straight into the guardrail. Iames was transported to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center by the District 16 Ambulance and treated for injuries sustained in the accident.
While at the hospital, Deputies conducted a DUI investigation on Iames and subsequently charged Iames with DUI. |
