Cumberland city officials will meet Thursday with representatives of CSX Transportation to review design options for two new West Side bridges. The meeting, which is closed to the public, will focus on the Fayette Street and Washington Street bridges. Those bridges, in addition to the Cumberland Street bridge, have been closed for several months due to their poor conditions. Engineering studies have been completed and the city and CSX are now expected to select a design, which will then require a final engineering blueprint that would go out for bid to construction companies. Mayor Ray Morriss tells WCBC News that he hopes to be able to participate in this round of talks. City solicitor Michael Cohen, earlier this year, advised Morriss and Councilman Eugene Frazier that they not be part of contract talks as they are both former CSX employees. The mayor plans to meet with the administrative appeals board prior to Thursday CSX meeting- hopefully clearing the way for him to participate in the process…
