Interstate 68 was shut down at Exit 43 at Beall Street for about 45 minutes after a vehicle collision Friday afternoon.

Allegany County 911 notified us at 5:50 PM that the mishap had occurred in the westbound lanes and traffic was halted.  That created a calvacade of traffic issues, as motorists looked for alternate routes around the crash.

Initial reports indicated that at least one occupant had to be extracated from the vehicle.
