“Mercy Fest” is the name of an event scheduled to be held in Cumberland at the end of next month- with the focus being to provide support and housing for those who qualify for medical marijuana and who can use it to detox from opioids/heroin. J. Maverick Dixon, representing a group known as Hippie Christian Fellowship, told the Cumberland Mayor and City Council this week that has worked as a minister, a missions activist and clinical social worker. The program known as “God Seed Housing” is designed to provide housing, counseling and spiritual teachings to those addicted- and the August 31st festival in the parking lot of Roses in downtown Cumberland will provide free food and clothing to those in need.
