Despite strong support from local elected officials as well as the Cumberland Economic Development Corporation- efforts to locate a medical cannabis growing operation to the former Kelly-Springfield Tire Company facility ended this week when the commission awarding licenses opted not to select Peak Harvest Health. According to company representatives in the past year, Peak Harvest had planned to open in the Riverside Industrial Park and to create up to 100 good paying jobs with benefits. Shawn Hershberger, executive director of the Cumberland Economic Development Corp., spearheaded the effort to bring Peak Harvest to Cumberland.
