WHAG TV reports in Washington County, there's a new twist in the recent drama in the county government. An internal investigation has been launched into alleged leaks to the media of confidential county information. Commissioner Jeff Cline held a press conference Tuesday after he says he was notified of an internal investigation Monday. Cline believes he is the target of the investigation which he claims is in retaliation for filing an ethics violation against three county officials on June 6th. Cline says those bringing the investigation are calling the leak a "breach of ethics". However, Cline says the letter in question was not confidential, as it came from an attorney and was emailed to almost 20 people. Cline says the three county officials are trying to hide information from Washington County residents. "How much money are these officials willing to spend to assure that people will have limited knowledge and conceal their own motives?" Cline questioned at the press conference. Cline says he and others have been asked to turn over his cell phone, laptop, and other electronic devices to Dolina Hobbs Law firm, who's handling the investigation.
