MD State Board of Education To Hear Brief Oral Arguments In Wayne Foote Case

October 22nd, 2019 by WCBC Radio

The Maryland State Board of Education this morning will hear brief oral arguments in the case to remove Allegany County school board member Wayne Foote. It is not known whether the state board will make an immediate decision. In a process that began last December, the state board has been investigating allegations of sexual misconduct, intimidation, and breaching the confidentiality of board discussions held in executive or closed sessions. In a recent interview Foote told WCBC News that while the ten month process has been a stressful ordeal, he has been encouraged by the public support he has received throughout…

If Foote is removed, the seat would be filled by way of a gubernatorial appointment. Allegany County Board of Education President Robert Farrell tells WCBC News that he can’t predict how the state board will rule- but he is holding out hope that Foote will retain his seat…

WCBC will broadcast the Foote portion of the state board meeting live. It is listed on the board agenda as being scheduled for 9:35
