On 2/6/15 @ approx. 1500 hrs., Deputies from the Allegany County Sheriff's Office responded to McMullen Hwy. south of Black Oak Rd. in Danville for a reported motor vehicle crash with injuries. Investigation revealed that Janet VanPelt (58 years old, Rawlings), operating a 2014 Dodge, was traveling S/B on McMullen Hwy. when she failed to drive right of center and struck a second vehicle, a 1996 Jeep SUV head on, operated by Kimberly Carnley (30 years old, Cumberland) who was traveling N/B. A third vehicle, operated by Anna Jefts (64 years old, Hagerstown) was also struck by VanPelt's vehicle as she attempted to swerve and avoid a collision. Ms. VanPelt was transported to the WMHS-RMC by Trooper 5. Ms. Carnley and a passenger, Jamal Jennings (26 years old, Westernport) were transported to the WMHS-RMC by ambulance. Ms. Jefts and a passenger, Thomas Jefts (78 Hagerstown) were treated at the scene and released. McMullen Hwy. was shut down for approximately one hour. The Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by the Maryland State Police as well as volunteers from Potomac, Rawlings, Keyser and Tri-Towns.
