While talks have been ongoing between Allegany County and the City of Cumberland regarding the possibility of the county EMS system absorbing the city’s ambulance service- Mayor Brian Grim has some doubt as to whether it’s a viable proposal. Just last week the county entered into an agreement to take over the Frostburg ambulance operation- and again, talks at the staff level have been occurring between Cumberland and the county of a similar plan. Mayor Grim, a guest recently on WCBC’s “Dave Norman Show”, said he isn’t all that certain any significant cost savings would be realized by turning over the city operation to the county…
