Maryland added 68,300 jobs in June as the state's unemployment rate dropped to 8%, nearly 28% lower than the national unemployment rate, state officials said, citing statistics released Friday by the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The national unemployment rate is 11.1%. Maryland's unemployment rate is better than 32 other states and surpasses that of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.
