Maryland public school teachers may not be about to protest, but they do share many of the same concerns raised by teachers across the nation. Those concerns include issues like pay, school support and working conditions. Maryland ranks in the top 10 when it comes to teacher salaries, but those teachers will be the first to tell you, there are concerns that go beyond dollars and cents. Maryland teachers have been speaking out for quite some time over the issue of pay. They've helped to convince lawmakers to agree to do more. The Kirwan Education Commission, put into place to find solutions to school funding, has made teacher pay one of its top priorities.
