Instead of repealing the Affordable Care Act, Congress should work together to fix the parts of the law that don’t work, Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., told reporters this week. Manchin said Congress should work on the law “piece by piece,” instead of repealing the entire thing. Manchin’s comments came s Democrats and Republicans continued to fight over the future of the law. President Barack Obama met with congressional Democrats to determine how best to keep his signature legislation. At the same time, Vice President-elect Mike Pence met with Republicans on how to repeal it. Manchin did not attend the meeting with Obama. He said the American people want Congress to work together, not repeal or keep the law based on a partisan vote.
