Early Sunday, Cumberland Police Department served an arrest warrant on 27 year old Joshua Scott Wright.
The warrant was issued by District Court for an incident that took place on October 7 when Cumberland Police responded to a Decatur Street residence for a disturbance. When officers arrived, they observed Wright to be intoxicated and creating a disturbance on the street. Wright was told by officers several times to quit causing a disturbance but he continued. He was advised at that time he was under arrest. Wright then turned from officers and began to walk away.
An officer attempted to take custody of Wright at which time he became combative and started fighting with the officers. After a brief struggle, he was taken into custody. Wright was then transported to the Western Maryland Regional Medical for a complaint of injury. While at the hospital, Wright continued his disorderly behavior and assaulted hospital staff attending to him.
Wright was charged with four counts of assault, 4th degree sex offense, indecent exposure, disorderly conduct, failure to obey a lawful order, and resisting arrest. He was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center to await a bond review before the District Court Commissioner.
