On June 3rd, 2020, The Cumberland City Police responded to a residence in the 700 block of Lafayette Ave for the report of an assault. Upon arrival, Officers contacted a female victim and other witnesses. It was learned that a male subject had entered the home while the residents were asleep. The victim alleged that they were awakened when the suspect assaulted them in their sleep. The victim quickly yelled for help and the residents were able to force the suspect from the home and lock the doors. The suspect then kicked the door in and entered the home a second time and was once again removed. Officers were able to locate the suspect at a nearby residence and identify him as Gregory Allen Boggs Sr, 42, of Cumberland MD. Upon speaking to officers, Boggs became irate and began yelling. Officers then informed Boggs he was under arrest. At that time, Boggs began to resist arrest. After a brief struggle, officers were able to restrain Boggs and transport him to Police Headquarters for processing. As a result of the investigation, Boggs is being charged with Home Invasion, 3rd Degree Burglary, 4th Degree Burglary, 3rd Degree Sex Offense, 4th Degree Sex Offense, 2nd Degree Assault, Fail to Obey, Disorderly Conduct, and Destruction of Property. At this time, Boggs is currently in custody, awaiting his bond hearing.
