Following a year of slow sales, Macy's Inc. on Wednesday released a list of 40 locations that will be closing this year, including the store at Valley Mall in Halfway.
"In light of our disappointing 2015 sales and earnings performance, we are making adjustments to become more efficient and productive in our operations," Terry J. Lundgren, chairman and chief executive officer of Macy's, said in a news release.
The move is part of a series of "cost-efficiency and process improvement measures" being implemented in early 2016, which will reduce expenses by approximately $400 million, according to the release.
