Mayor Jack Coburn announced the town's annual Christmas parade and tree-lighting ceremony will be held Saturday. The day's events begin with a breakfast at 7 a.m., at the Lonaconing Army prepared by the Goodwill Volunteer Fire Company. A winter carnival will be presented at the engine house and lunch will be presented at the same location by the Ladies Auxiliary. Raffles, special promotions and a bake sale will be conducted and free horse-drawn carriage rides will be offered. The parade begins at 12:30 p.m., and the tree lighting at the Iron Furnace Park at 5 p.m., dedicated to Charlie Warnick, who died this year. Warnick portrayed Santa Claus for many years, according to Coburn. Music will be presented by the Mountain Ridge High School choir and local vocalist Carol King. Decorating of cookies supplied by the Egle Nursing Home will be held at the library where photos can be taken with Santa Claus.
