The Cumberland Times News reports a 22-inch-high bronzed scale model of a statue honoring Lefty Grove, a Lonaconing native in the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame, will be publicly unveiled on Aug. 27. "This will be the next best thing to actually having the statue," said Bucky Schriver of the Lefty Grove Statue Project. Schriver's idea to honor Robert Moses "Lefty" Grove will take a giant step forward when Florida-based sculptor Susan Luery displays the bronzed maquette from 2 to 5 p.m. at the George's Creek Library, 76 Main St.
