Investigation into that early August CSX train derailment in nearby Hyndman is continuing- but one thing was made painfully clear on the day of the incident- a lack of cell phone service significantly hindered the emergency response and evacuation efforts. That August 2nd incident saw 33 CSX rail cars derail causing substantial property damage and fires- and leading to an estimated 1,000 residents within a 1-mile radius being evacuated. Bedford County Commissioner vice-chair Barry Dellara said perhaps this incident can lead to an effort to secure assistance from the state to secure cell service for the community…
