Residents are encouraged to attend an informational meeting Tuesday regarding upcoming work on a flood-control watershed dam. The Cumberland Times News reports officials with the West Virginia Conservation Agency, the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection and the federal Natural Resources Conservation Service will be on hand to explain the work and answer residents’ questions.
When the dam, New Creek 1, was built in 1957, Keyser was a much more rural community. However, over the past 30 years multiple homes have been built adjacent to and directly below the dam.
