The Cumberland Times News reports a 51-year-old Keyser man is awaiting trial after being charged with numerous violations stemming from a property damage accident early Thursday in the 900 block of Ward Avenue.
Robert C. Evans was not injured in the 12:38 a.m. crash that occurred when he lost control of a 2008 Chevy Silverado truck and then struck a tree.
Evans walked away from the scene, according to Keyser Police.
Minutes later, the owner of the vehicle, who lives nearby, arrived and told police Evans was at his residence.
Keyser police found Evans hiding under a bed.
He was taken into custody without incident.
Evans was issued citations for unlawful taking of a vehicle, obstructing an officer, failure to maintain reasonable and prudent control, leaving the s scene of a property damage accident, failure to report an accident, driving without an operator's license and not using a hands-free device while driving.
Evans was released after being issued citations.
The truck reportedly sustained extensive damage to the front end and was towed from the scene by a local service, police said.
