On April 16, 2017, at 11:57 PM, Officers from the Cumberland Police responded to the 200 block of Valley Street for someone tampering with vehicles. Upon arrival officers spoke to a victim who provided a description of the suspect. The victim further advised officers that items had been stolen out of their vehicle. Officers then began checking the area and contacted other witnesses. The witnesses stated they had observed the suspect and located some of the victim’s property that had been disposed of. Officers also learned that video surveillance had caught the suspect disposing of some property. An officer searching the area located a male matching the description wearing gloves in the area of Fairview Street. Officers approached the subject and positively identify him as the person breaking into vehicles. Officers were able to recover all of the reported stolen property. At this time it was also determined the male suspect was a juvenile. Officers then took the juvenile into custody and charges will be forwarded to the Department of Juvenile Services.
