Cumberland Mayor Brian Grim on his Facebook page announced that demolitions of properties in the Rolling Mill area are underway and the project is moving full steam ahead. Grim said that cerws were working to raze a house at 414 Park St. Tuesday. Another half dozen properties are going to be bid.
Officially known as the Maryland Avenue Redevelopment Project, the plan includes the removal of 67 homes and a church between Maryland Avenue and Park Street and Emily and Williams streets. Administered by the Cumberland Economic Development Corporation, once cleared, officials hope to contract with a developer to bring a national chain restaurant and business tenants to the site.
