A Garrett County inmate who walked away from a work detail Friday afternoon was captured several hours later. The Cumberland Times News reports Ryan Christopher White, 22, was working with an inmate crew cutting grass on Norris Welch Road when he disappeared just after noon, the Garrett County Sheriff’s Office said.

The incident had prompted Garrett County Public Schools to place facilities in the southern part of the county lockdown.
