The Cumberland Times News reports fire of an unknown origin destroyed an unoccupied Wiley Ford residence early Friday. According to Wiley Ford Volunteer Fire Department Deputy Chief Terry Ashenfelter. The fire occurred in a Kingbaum Road residence and was discovered by Short Gap Volunteer Fire Chief Colby Simpson about 4:45 a.m. as he was traveling on Route 28 to his workplace. The fire loss in property and contents was estimated between $125,000 and $150,000. The fire also consumed a shed that was located on the property. Cause of the fire has not yet been determined, pending investigation by the West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Wiley Ford firefighters were assisted at the scene by units from Ridgeley, Patterson Creek, Short Gap, District 16, Bedford Road, and LaVale volunteer fire departments. Wiley Ford ambulance stood by at the scene and Shaft firefighters stood by at the Ridgeley fire station. Units were on the scene for three hours, according to the Mineral County 911 emergency center.
Potomac Edison and the Frankfort Public Service also responded to the scene

Route 28 saw traffic delayed in both directions early Tuesday as the result of fire and rescue squads responding to a fully involved house fire. No injuries initially reported.
