On 03.12.2016 at approximately 9:30 PM, Deputies of the Allegany County Sheriff's Office responded to 10307 National Highway (Kline's Restaurant) for a reported hit and run to a vehicle, utility pole and possibly a structure. Deputies arrived on scene and determined that one occupied vehicle was struck during the incident and there was no obvious damage to any structures, a utility pole was also broken and in the roadway. Deputies located a registration plate from the suspect vehicle at the scene and shortly thereafter located the damaged vehicle and the operator at his residence in LaVale. After speaking to the operator and based upon the evidence and victim statements the operator, Thomas Lattea Jr- 29 years old, was charged with the following: DUI DWI Failing to Stop after Property Damage Accident Failing to Stop After Vehicle Damage Accident Negligent Driving Reckless Driving Failure to Control Speed to Avoid a Collision Failure to Obey Properly Placed Traffic Control Device Traffic on National Highway was impeded for a time due to the damaged utility pole. There were no injuries reported in the incident. Lattea was released pending trial. LaVale Fire Department assisted on the scene.
