During the late afternoon of April 26, 2016, members of the Hampshire County Sheriff’s Office received information of a male teacher at Hampshire High School reportedly having an inappropriate relationship with a 14-year-old female student.
Over the next couple of days, Sheriff’s Office investigators gathered evidence consistent with Timothy Allen Detwiller, age 33, with an address near Slanesville, having sexual contact with the student while in a classroom at Hampshire High School.
So far the reported abuse is believed to have occurred during February and March, 2016. At this time, Investigators believe only one victim was involved with this abuse.
Detwiler has thus far been charged with 2 counts of sex abuse by a custodian/guardian. He was arrested at his residence without incident on Thursday, and was remanded to Potomac Highlands Regional Jail to await arraignment.
The Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division is continuing to investigate and forensically examine electronic devices for additional evidence. Additional charges are probable against Detwiler. Due to the on-going investigation, the Sheriff’s Office has no further information to release at this time.
