WASHINGTON COUNTY, MD (October 18, 2018) – A Deputy State Fire Marshal has charged a Hagerstown woman who intentionally set a vehicle on fire in Hagerstown. The vehicle is owned by Potomac Edison.
On October 18, 2018, at approximately 2:25 p.m the Office of the State Fire Marshal was dispatched to 13579 Donnybrook Drive, Hagerstown, Washington County for a vehicle fire. The 911 call was made by a neighbor who saw a woman with a gasoline container in one hand and a lighter in another, light items under a white Potomac Edison 2014 Ford F-150 Crew Cab. Approximately eight firefighters from Long Meadow Volunteer Fire Company the City of Hagerstown Fire Department arrived on the scene. It took them approximately 20 minutes to extinguish the fire. As a result of an Origin and Cause investigation and interviews with neighbors, it was determined that 52 year old Leanne Marie Kuehnle, of same address, ignited the fire that subsequently caused damage to the truck.
The Deputy with the Office of the State Fire Marshal, charged Leanne Kuehnle with Arson 2nd Degree, Malicious Burning 1st Degree and Malicious Destruction of Property over $1000. Damage was estimated at approximately $15,000 for vehicle and the contents. Ms. Kuehnle was transported to Washington County Central Booking where she is waiting to be seen by a Court Commissioner.
