There had been some serious consideration to canceling Groundhog Day festivities in Downtown Cumberland this year- but some last minute lobbying has saved the event.
Mayor Brian Grim told WCBC News that due to low attendance at usually less than ideal weather conditions- there were plans to not hold the local version of the event. However, city officials have now decided to give it one more try.
On Thursday, February 2nd, Councilman Seth Bernard will serve as master of ceremonies for Cumberland’s Groundhog Day featuring Western Maryland Murray.
