The Office of the State’s Attorney for Allegany County, the Honorable Michael O. Twigg, State’s Attorney, announced on Monday, February 23, 2015 that the Allegany County Grand Jury recently handed down indictments on a Cumberland couple in connection with several recent burglaries in the Oldtown and Cumberland areas.
Charles Bret Parker, Jr, 33 of Cumberland, was indicted on fifteen counts stemming from five different burglaries which occurred between August 2014 and January 2015. Hilary Dawn Nixon, 28 of Cumberland, was indicted on eight counts stemming from her participation in two of those burglaries. The couple was arrested Friday, February 20, 2015 at the home they share. Following a bond hearing at Allegany County Circuit Court, Parker was held on a $50,000 bond and Nixon on $25,000.
The indictments stem from a joint investigation conducted by the C3I Unit and the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant State’s Attorney Erich Bean will prosecute the cases.
