Governmental Red Tape Threatens To Further Delay Low Water Bridge Project In Little Orleans

Allegany County's engineering and public works staff has been working since 2004 to design and replace the low water bridge that serves the Little Orleans area- but governmental red tape is threatening to delay the project another few years. The bridge routinely floods during heavy rains- and the county has been attempting to replace the aging structure. The problem is that the county has been working with the federal government, state highway administration and Maryland Historical Trust- which apparently represents a perfect storm of bureaucratic red tape. County Commissioner Creade Brodie Jr. was not pleased to hear about the latest delay- and said its time to arrange a meeting with state officials…
