The first part of this month has been rather shocking concerning government officials in our region resigning or being sentenced for committing crimes while in office.
Bedford County District Attorney William Higgins Junior and Hardy County Clerk of the Circuit Court Kimberly Hartman both resigned after being indicted by grand juries. And former Allegany County Register of Wills Rebecca Drew was sentenced for misusing her office credit card.
WCBC News talked with Maryland State Prosecutor Emmet Davitt after the sentencing. Davitt told us that the Drew case is not uncommon, and was not a difficult investigation…
