Maryland Governor Larry Hogan on Tuesday introduced an emergency bill to salvage the sick leave bill he vetoed last year amid a clash with lawmakers. The new bill will be considered when the General Assembly convenes in January. Lawmakers and Hogan's office clashed over the bill that Hogan ended up vetoing last year. In announcing that veto, he signed executive orders mandating paid sick leave for contractual state employees, encouraging contractors to offer paid sick leave and creating a task force to study the issue of sick leave. Hogan said that panel went to solicit input from businesses and workers, and their findings played a role in his new proposal. He said the alternatives presented last year would have caused more harm than good- and would have been particularly harmful for Allegany and Garrett counties….
