Gas Prices Soaring To Start the New Year

Pump prices nationally and in Maryland continued to climb higher throughout the busy holiday travel weekend and the first full week of 2017.  Today’s national gas average is $2.37 per gallon, inched up by five cents in the last week and 18 cents from last month.  Pump prices are up by 37 cents compared to last year on this date when the national average was $2.00 per gallon. Maryland’s average cost is a penny higher than the national average at $2.38 per gallon, which is five cents higher from last week, 11 cents higher than last month’s price and 40 cents more than the cost last year on this date when the state average was $1.98 per gallon. Cumberland stands at $2.44 up nine cents from last week
