Pump prices across most of the country, including the Mid-Atlantic region, continue to trend downward during the peak road-trip season. The national average price for regular gasoline has declined to $2.12 per gallon, which is the lowest level in more than 100 days, since late April, and the lowest price for this date since 2004. Today’s nationwide average price is two cents less than one week ago, 15 cents less than one month ago and 51 cents less than the same date last year. Maryland’s average price is four cents less than the nationwide price at $2.08 per gallon, a price not seen since mid-April. The state average is four cents less than last week’s price, 18 cents less than a month ago and 54 cents per gallon lower than this time last year. While the state average remains above $2.00 per gallon, many retail stations throughout Maryland, including the Baltimore metro area and the Eastern Shore are selling gasoline below this benchmark.

Gas prices are continuing to fall with the national average for a gallon of regular unleaded heading into the weekend standing at $1.76, a five cent drop from last week. In Maryland the price dropped three cents, down to $1.83 and in Cumberland prices also down three cents to $1.83
