Gas prices increase for holiday weekend

May 28th, 2016 by WCBC Radio

Despite the steady increase, drivers remain on target to pay the lowest gas prices for the Memorial Day holiday since 2005. Though gas prices are at their highest point for the year with the national average at $2.32 per gallon, up five cents per gallon on the week and 17 cents per gallon on the month, prices remain 42 cents below year ago prices.

Prices at the pump across Maryland are at the highest point for the year as well. The state average, also at $2.32 per gallon, is five cents more than last week’s price and 13 cents higher than a month ago. However, as is the trend across the country, Maryland’s average is significantly lower than last year’s price on this date by 38 cents per gallon.
