Prices at the pump remain relatively stable, even lower in Maryland, as the summer driving season kicks into high gear.In Cumberland, the price is dropping significantly. In Cumberand the price at the pump for a gallon of regular unleaded is down four cents from a week ago. The national average cost for regular unleaded gasoline is $2.76 per gallon, unchanged from last week, four cents less than one month ago, and the lowest price for this date in over five years. The national average is 83 cents lower than last year’s price on this date. Maryland’s average price is four cents lower than the national average at $2.72 per gallon. The state average is three cents lower than last week and is now pricing lower than last month’s average by four cents. Marylanders continue to pay significantly lower prices this year compared to last year at this time, saving an average of 91 cents per gallon

The national average price for regular unleaded gasoline has remained steady over the past week and continues to hover near at what many expect to be the highest average of the year. Friday’s price of $2.79 per gallon is three cents higher than a week ago and is 13 cents per gallon higher than one month ago. While pump prices across the country have increased since April, consumers are saving 86 cents per gallon compared to this same date last year. Maryland’s average price at the pump for Friday is six cents lower than the national average at $2.73, which is a penny more than last week’s price and nine cents higher than last month. Compared to last year’s cost on this date, today’s state average is 90 cents per gallon lower. Cumberland prices continue to drop, down two cents from a week ago at $2.66
