Garrett County Sees COVID Case Count Jump

July 12th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

Garrett County Coronavirus cases have spiked in recent weeks. For the early months of the pandemic, the count remained at 10, with zero deaths. The total has now jumped to 24, with more testing taking place.

There is no word on what caused the jump, although Meet The Press reported last week that rentals in the county had jumped over 500%.

It’s still out there and is a dangerous problem that too many people make light of.

I wonder if our local Bd of Ed has taken any measures or made any plans in the buildings to prepare for some sort of re-opening such as plexiglass, markers in lobbies and hallways to indicate social distancing, modifications to cafeteria or the classrooms for meals, installation of additional hand sanitizer stations, plans for how to handle the bathroom situation, temperature taking stations at building entrances, signage for the new protocols, extra supplies of disinfectants, not to mention masks, and on and on. I’ve not heard any talk coming out of Washington Street about any sort of master plan. Districts in other areas are already doing the things I mentioned.

        > Regardless what the BOE does in the way of preparations it boils down to whether or not the parents are confident that their children will be protected and not return home with the virus.
How much risk would you be willing to take?

I agree with you but all those things I mentioned will still have to be done. And that takes time and money. Like you said, this thing ain’t going away.

Here’s another from Mark Twain;”In the first place, God made idiots. This was for practice. Then He made school boards.”

It’ll fizzle out like the swan flu a few years back. Just like the flu , wash your hands and stay home when sick , treat the systems and quit panicking!
