Maryland State Police arrested a man who was indicted on impaired driving, vehicular homicide and related charges following a single-vehicle crash that killed his 4-year-old son last month in Washington County. The suspect is identified as Gregory Lee Ehabe, 27, of Frederick, Maryland. He was arrested today in Baltimore by members of the Maryland State Police Crash Team.
Ehabe is charged with grossly negligent manslaughter by vehicle, homicide by motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, homicide by motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol per se, homicide by motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, driving vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, driving vehicle while under the influence of alcohol per se, driving vehicle while under the influence of alcohol while transporting minor, driving vehicle while impaired by alcohol, driving vehicle while impaired by alcohol while transporting minor and child neglect. Following his arrest, Ehabe was transported to the Washington County Detention Center for processing.
According to investigators, troopers from the Maryland State Police Hagerstown Barrack responded at about 10:30 p.m. on Dec. 2, 2019 to a report of a single-vehicle crash that occurred at Interstate 70 at Bower Avenue. The vehicle, a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe, entered the median and struck a concrete culvert.
Ehabe and his son, Everett Ehabe, were removed from the vehicle and transported to Meritus Medical Center. Everett Ehabe was then transferred to Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. where he was pronounced deceased on Dec 4, 2019.
Following the completion of the investigation, the case was presented by the Washington County State’s Attorney’s Office to the Washington County Grand Jury, which indicted Gregory Ehabe. The arrest warrant was issued Thursday.
