Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot is continuing his campaign for a post Labor Day start for Maryland Public Schools. Franchot sent out a mass email this week urging people to sign his online petition to change the starting date for school in the state. The comptroller, who will be visiting Cumberland next week, said his office has received an overwhelmingly positive response from parents, teachers, families and small businesses across Maryland who want to restore the traditional calendar and start school after Labor Day.
