ACPS Statement #1:
On Friday, June 2, 2017, a suspicious individual, who appeared to be armed, was seen in multiple areas in Cumberland. As a precaution, Cumberland City schools and Northeast Elementary School have been placed in lock-in, which means that outside activities are cancelled and all exterior doors remained locked. Today is a scheduled three-hour early dismissal; however, the school system will evaluate early dismissal procedures in cooperation with the Cumberland City Police Department and will advise any potential changes to the early dismissal schedule.
INITIAL REPORT:
Cumberland City Police have responded to Maryland Avenue and Baker Street for a domestic situation. Unconfirmed reports say a male subject may have access to a hand gun.
With that possible threat, which is not a direct threat but a concern, Fort Hill High School has been put on a lock in status until it the domestic situation is resolved.
