Former Maryland Governor Marvin Mandel Reflects On Life

Just last month, former Maryland Governor Marvin Mandel celebrated his 95th birthday- and despite that advanced age, he still goes to his Annapolis law office each day, maintaining an active schedule. In an interview with WBAL radio, Mandel reflected on his life in politics- most notably the controversy that led to his being sentenced to jail  after being convicted on 15 federal counts of mail fraud and one count of racketeering. Mandel, a native of Baltimore and a Democrat, was Maryland’s governor at the time. But the October 1977 sentencing wasn’t the end of the saga. Mandel did serve time in prison, but was pardoned by President Ronald Reagan. His conviction was eventually overturned. He was asked if he has any regrets…
