The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a * Flood Warning for... Western Allegany County in western Maryland... Mineral County in eastern West Virginia... Western Hampshire County in eastern West Virginia... * Until 200 AM EDT. * At 1000 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain that will cause flooding. Up to two inches of rain have already fallen. Flooding has been reported on the south side of Cumberland with approximately six inches of flowing water. * Some locations that will experience flooding include... Cumberland, Romney, Bel Air, Fort Ashby, Ridgeley, Cresaptown, Potomac Park, Wiley Ford, Rawlings, Springfield, Green Spring, Burlington, Flintstone, Oldtown, Spring Gap, Russelldale, Short Gap, North Branch, Reeses Mill and Brady. This includes flood prone locations Springfield Pike near Abernathy Run... Headsville Road along Staggs Run... and Patterson Creek Road along Patterson Creek. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.
