A spokesperson for the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s office tells WCBC News that the Investigations into two separate fires that occurred at the historic Warner’s Restaurant in Cresaptown are ongoing- and a number of leads are being pursued. Both fires have been rule arson. The first fire was reported on Saturday, October 8 at approximately 9:37 am. The one alarm blaze brought 60 fire firefighters from local fire companies and took 20 minutes to control. The fire originated in a 2nd story bedroom, which is part of a residential unit that is located above the restaurant. The fire caused approximately $10,000 in damage to the residential unit. The second fire was reported on Monday, October 10 at approximately 5:34 pm. This fire was located on the 1st story of the residential unit located above the restaurant and caused approximately $1,000 in damages. The fires caused very little damage to the restaurant, which is currently undergoing renovations. The residential unit located above the restaurant where the fires originated was vacant at the time of both fires.
