A Thursday fire destroyed the Oakland home of former Garrett County Administrator Monty Pagenhardt and his wife Nancy.
The initial call came in at around 4 PM. Pagenhardt told The Republican newspaper that his wife had just left for an appointement and he had put his grandchild down for a nap when a neighbor informed him the residence was on fire.
Pagenhardt was able to get the child and escape to safety, but the house and all of its contents were lost in the blaze.
He said a repairman was working on the furnace and had left to get a part prior to the fire.
Firemen repportedly lost water pressure while fighting the blaze, which necessitated a call for additional tanker trucks from nearby communities to the residence, which is located on Nicklaus Drive in Country Club Acres.
