Fire Chief Explains New Smoke Alarm Law

The new Maryland smoke alarm law goes into effect Jan. 1. The hope is it will save lives.  Cumberland Fire Chief Donald Dunn tells WCBC News that the new smoke alarms have a sealed-in lithium ion battery that lasts 10 years eliminating, the need to change the batteries every six months. He says that  two-thirds of all home fire deaths happen because someone doesn't hear an alarm go off…
