Two people were found dead inside a Knobley Road residence when the Fountain Volunteer Fire Department entered the fire-engulfed structure late Thursday night. Fountain Fire Capt. Jeremy Taylor said the victims were found in a bedroom of the single-story family dwelling located in the 13900 block of Knobley Road. The Cumberland Times News reports the names of the deceased have not been released. The Office of the West Virginia Fire Marshal said Friday afternoon in a Facebook post that the victims were an 86-year-old female and an 83-year-old man.
Investigators determined the fire was accidental, but are still investigating the cause.
Volunteer firefighters from Mineral, Allegany, Grant and Hampshire counties responded to the incident upon alert at 11:39 p.m., following a 911 call that reported the blaze to the Mineral County Emergency Center.
