On September 19, 2019 at 1034 hours, Troopers from the Maryland State Police- Hagerstown Barrack were dispatched to the area of I-70 East of Rt. 65 in Washington County, MD for a fatal motor vehicle collision.
Preliminary investigation revealed, Vehicle 1 was traveling E/B I-70 prior to Rt. 65 in lane #1. Driver 1 attempted to change lanes into lane #2. While changing lanes vehicle 1 struck vehicle 2. Driver 1 then over corrected, drove through the median and stuck a Dump truck (vehicle 3) head on. Driver 1 was deceased at the scene.

One man is dead after a tractor trailer accident on I-70 W in Fulton County Friday morning. According to Fulton County Dispatch, the crash occurred around 2:30 a.m. at the 165 Mile Marker of I-70 W, as a tractor trailer overturned. Penn-DOT is still on scene late into the morning, as the vehicle was carrying cooking oil, which was spilled all along the highway. The driver of the tractor trailer was pronounced dead at the scene. WHAG reports all lanes on I-70 W were closed for several hours, until the left lane was re-opened for traffic around 8:45 a.m.
