Emmanuel Episcopal Church Border Wall Deteriorating

April 27th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

WCBC has learned that as of yesterday a section of the wall bordering the property of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church has fallen. Another section seems be be bulging and may be unstable at this time.

The church is well known by area residents as the church on the hill overlooking the City of Cumberland.  It was constructed on the site of the former Fort Cumberland.

      > No, it is the choice of other folks with money from far away who might just be persuaded to give us money to fix it though they, happily, will never see it. That is how we got the unneeded new AHS built. That is how we get a very few potholes fixed. Some of our highest paid locals are grant proposal writers who present us, cap in hand, to those who might give us money to fix what we can’t maintain ourselves as we spend all our funds on union government employees and their outrageous pensions.

        > State and local governments are mainly going bankrupt providing healthcare to employees, not under-funded pensions (that were offered and AGREED to in exchange for lower pay) We are at the mercy of Drug & Insurance companies that are robbing the public blind. THAT is where the main problem is. ( btw, pension funds are under-funded because for decades elected leaders NEVER fulfilled their OBLIGATION to fund them like they promised and now the chickens are coming home. And as usual the politicians want the poorest workers to pay for their malfeasance.

          > So, if you are correct, it is other benefits for government employees that are bankrupting state and local governments rather than salaries or pensions. The solution remains the same; reduce the number of government employees. Cumberland could easily lose some staff assigned to harass taxpayers about their lawns and wander about the mall cajoling bums among numerous others.
