The Cumberland Times News reports an Elk Garden man is serving a mandatory 10-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to killing his wife. Michael Wayne Myers pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in March in the death of Valerie Kay Myers, 57, the Mineral County Prosecuting Attorney's Office said this week. Michael Myers shot his wife with a .45 caliber handgun inside their Barnum Road home last year. Following the shooting, he reported it to the county 911 center. Police said the Myerses had been drinking and arguing before the fatal incident.
