Elections board yet to recommend plan for general election, review continues

June 20th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

When it comes to how Maryland’s November elections might look, members of the State Board of Elections still have more questions than answers.

That’s because election staff are still collecting data on the June 2 primary election, Nikki Charlson, the state’s deputy elections administrator, told board members during a Thursday meeting. Officials are at the beginning of a lengthy review of the primary.

That June 2 election was Maryland’s first largely mail-in primary and it has drawn scrutiny from advocates and lawmakers over its many errors. Election officials have vowed to not repeat their mistakes in the November general election, but exactly how the general election will be conducted isn’t clear.

Board members have said that the election could be entirely in-person, entirely vote-by-mail, or a mix of the two. Gov. Lawrence J. Hogan Jr. (R) will decide. Meanwhile, officials are left to look at what did and didn’t work in the vote-by-mail primary.

They vowed not to cock up in the June primary but they did. This history of apparent bumbling can be used to conceal their more nefarious manipulation of the general election.

If we can stand in line at Lowe’s without dropping like flies why can’t we vote at polling places like we have in years past? What is the concern?

      > The concern is packing people close together in line and putting them into cubicles that cannot be sanitized between uses. The more people crammed together, the more people are exposed. It seems pretty simple even for people living here to figure out.

Good point about booths being sanitized. I never thought of that. Thanks for your input Kevin, condescending as it was. I sure it made you feel better about yourself. Not everybody thinks of all angles, nor do they attempt to belittle others. Just a thought. Have a great day!!

I think I would rather cast my vote by mail than take the risk standing in a line at a polling place.

Our founding fathers screwed the pooch when they fail to include a Bill of Responsibilities to go along with the Bill of Rights. Responsibility #1, you are on your own to drag your a** to the poling place and exercise your Right to Vote.

Listen to the news…They have found stacks of mail in ballots tucked away in closet.O we didn’t know. Also, they can be disposed of and you wouldn’t know.
If you have went to Lowes and WalMart or to the market recently cleaning or hand sanitizer has went by the side. And what about the march last week, how many people stood 6ft apart.
How many people are wearing masks under their noses. Do they not know what a nose is used for.
How long would it take to wipe down a voting machine. Wear gloves, masks, stand 6ft apart.
I want to know my vote counts and mail in votes can be stolen. not received or thrown away.
Our country is in turmoil an voting should not be taken for granted. I’m an American, military family and I want to be sure honest prevails.
